Chicken and Coop FAQ's

How many chickens does your coop fit?
Up to 8 medium sized hens.

What size of coop is this?
This is a medium sized chicken coop. Our coop offers much more space than an ark offering more rooms for your birds, it also offers a roosting bar and 4 large nesting boxes that are easy to access.

Do your coops have wood flooring?
Our coops do not have floors, this has worked extremely well for cleaning, it is easier on the chickens because it does not need to be raised off the ground. We have had no issues with preditors digging under any of our coops and runs because of the thick wood along the base and heaviness of both the coop and the run.

Do you also sell hens?
No, but we can give you a list of places that do!

How we keep the coop warm in the winter?
Chickens usually do not need a source of heat if they have a draft free coop, are fed free choice feed with an addition of cracked or whole corn during the late fall - winter months and have warm fresh water daily. Hot water can be mixed into laying mash which most chickens will gobble up. Only mix up what can be eaten in a short time. Another thing we were careful to do is have the roosts very wide, so that the birds' feathers cover their feet. Maybe tiny bantams might need some extra heat but healthy, well fed and watered chickens do not require a heated coop. Only in extreme cold weather will you need an extra-enclosure for your poultry.

What type of area should I put my coop in?
Your coop and run need to be placed on level ground to be secure and fit together properly. We would also recommend a fenced in yard for extra security.

What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash or credit cards with PayPal.

Do you deliver?
We will deliver in the Raleigh, NC area for an additional $40. This includes driving the coop and/or run to your place, and taking it off the truck. We do not carry the coops or runs into backyards.

Can I pick up?
Sure! We will be happy to send you directions and arrange a time for you to pick up your coop and run. Please make sure you have a medium sized pick-up truck or larger and rope to secure the items.
